A future community is taking shape in southern Changshu, blending urban vibrancy and redefining the 15-minute walkable lifestyle. Led by Aedas Executive Director Zihuan Lin, Changshu Jinmao Living Hub integrates the office, city and people, setting a new benchmark for mixed-use development. The project enjoys a scenic view from the surrounding landmarks, forming a hub that integrates office, retail, and conference functions.

The design introduces a 30m-wide landscaped park to vitalise the southern edge. It repositions the commercial circulation inward and enhances the pedestrian flow. Public spaces are thoughtfully arranged, with plazas on both ends and a central civic square offering vibrant social interaction.
Inspired by Changshu’s cultural heritage, particularly the ‘Eighteen Views of Yushan’, the design reinterprets local landscape motifs through a contemporary architectural lens.
The tower featuresa diagonally cut crown at the façade corner, creating a dynamic silhouette that appears suspended in mid-air. The façade combines Low-E glass with aluminium fins and concealed operable panels for ventilation, maintaining a sleek, modern aesthetic. Integrated lighting design enhances the landmark presence, with linear fixtures embedded alongside ventilation elements to outline the building’s form after dark.

The lakeside reception hall with fluid architectural contours echoing the graceful movement of koi. Set back from the street corner, the building opens up a circular plaza with a reflecting pool, creating a vivid visual of koi leaping in water. Designed with long-term adaptability in mind, the space accommodates functions such as exhibitions, sales, and private meetings, while allowing for future commercial use. The ground floor features smaller rooms for flexible conversion, and the upper level offers an open layout ideal for both display and retail transformation.
The retail design adopts a streamlined architectural form. The façade is articulated into three layers: a transparent ground-level glass curtain wall, a textured aluminium panel system, and a glass wall framed for signage. These overlapping elements evoke the interplay of mist and cliffside. Day and night views are holistically considered, with lighting seamlessly integrated into the façade’s texture. Two atriums of varying scales provide flexible space for exhibitions and events, while multiple entrances enhance accessibility. A skylight above the main atrium brings natural light deep into the interior, blurring the boundary between indoors and out.

Zihuan shares, ‘The design seamlessly blendsfuturistic technology with the cultural essence of Changshu’s natural landscape. Through architecture, we hope to create a meaningful connection between industry, city, and everyday life – building a vibrant engine for a sustainable community.’
